"Using a unique data set we link the race of police officers who kill suspects with the race of those who are killed across the United States. We have data on a total of 2,699 fatal police killings for the years 2013 to 2015. This is 1,333 more killings by police than is provided by the FBI data on justifiable police homicides. When either the violent crime rate or the demographics of a city are accounted for, we find that white police officers are not significantly more likely to kill a black suspect."
The emails were hacked from Podesta’s account by WikiLeaks, but Clinton’s campaign — and Brazile — have all but claimed their contents have been falsified.
On Friday, epic cyberattacks crippled a major internet firm, repeatedly disrupting the availability of popular websites across the United States. The hacker group claiming responsibility says that the day’s antics were just a dry run and that it has its sights set on a much bigger target. And the attackers now have a secret weapon in the increasing array of internet-enabled household devices they can subvert and use to wreak havoc.
A follow-up to Friday's story about massive DDoS attacks.
Whitlow found that the more impacts a player had to the head, the more changes in a part of the brain called white matter, which is made up of insulated neurons that form the basis of communication between different parts of the brain. Such changes are concerning since the white matter of the brain is still developing and evolving during this age, and changes to its normal trajectory might have lasting effects on many aspects of brain function, from cognition to personality to behavior.
“I am not Muslim and I am not supporting Trump,” Singh Khalsa, who is actually a Sikh, tells local news station WTHR. “He is putting my picture, saying Muslims support him and I have nothing to do with it. I don’t support Trump. Nobody even asked me to put that picture there. It was shocking, disturbing and this will create more confusion among people because they are sending it nationwide.”
Per multiple media reports, sites supporting services such as Twitter, Reddit, Airbnb, Spotify, and Reddit were among those that were impacted.
A DDoS attack is when someone floods a site with traffic or requests in order to overload its servers and make the site's services unavailable to people legitimately trying to use it.
No group has yet come forward claiming responsibility or providing a motive.
Because of the popularity of the sites affected by this morning's DDoS attack, this could just be an example of hacker hubris, a "because I could" sort of thing.

Sgt. Andrew Alcorn, a Frederick, Md.-based police criminal investigation division supervisor, reported Sandeep Sherlekar, MD, likely committed suicide, based on review of evidence, according to The Frederick News-Post.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on Wednesday proposed listing the rusty patched bumble bee, a prized but vanishing pollinator once widely found in the upper Midwest and Northeastern United States, for federal protection as an endangered species.

In what has become the largest gathering of Native Americans in more than 100 years, a coalition of dozens of tribes across the country oppose the pipeline’s construction, citing concerns that it would put the Missouri River – as well as the network of lakes and tributaries that the “Big Muddy” is connected to - at risk of contamination via oil spill and lead to the destruction of culturally significant sites for the Sioux tribes in the area.
False flag, anyone?
The FBI found nearly 15,000 emails former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton never turned over to the government after she left office — despite her insistence she’d handed in all her work-related messages. The Obama administration revealed the messages in a court hearing Monday. The 14,900 emails are just part of thousands the FBI has turned over, after it took control of Mrs. Clinton’s secret email server.
